STUDENT AWARENESS OF UCF SEXUAL ASSAULT RESOURCES
During summer 2016, I took the writing and rhetoric course, Rhetoric and Civic Engagement. In this class, we took civic issues and wrote about how they affect our local community and how we could approach making changes. I learned about rhetorical concepts, like Kenneth Burke's identification and division and Karlyn Kohrs Campbell's persuasive continuum. Rhetorical concepts have shown me I can look at civic issues and see how complex and multi-faceted they are. Yet that doesn't mean I can't understand them fully. These rhetorical concepts can be used to help persuade our audience to see and even integrate a new perspective through your writing. In the piece below. I explored the civic issue of sexual assault on women at college campuses. I include my analysis of this issue, as well as a plan of action on how to improve the dialogue about sexual assault at the Unversity of Central Florida (UCF).
